Ambient Lighting

Ambient lighting establishes a general level of lighting within a space.

* In main living areas ambient lighting provides the 'base layer' of light, which is then supplemented by task lighting, accent and feature lighting.

* Ambient lighting is created using ceiling-recessed downlights, wall-lights, hanging lights and/or table & floor lamps. These should be positioned in such a way as to provide general lighting throughout the space.

*  In functional areas such as Utility Rooms, Studios, Playrooms, Workshops and Garages ambient lighting will be the main type of lighting, supplemented only by localised task lighting.
